Ontmoet Philippe Zanolino
Philippe Zanolino (born 1960, Périgueux, France) is a self-taught artist who has lived and worked in Curaçao since 1986. The island has become both his home and a constant source of inspiration, shaping the atmosphere and rhythm that flow through his work. Philippe views himself as a medium, guided by unseen forces in the creative process. Rather than leading each piece, he allows it to emerge intuitively, following a direction that unfolds naturally across both his paintings and sculptures.
His works invite viewers into a layered inner world, where energy, symbolism, and movement come together in quiet harmony. Recurring elements such as the dog, the bird, and the white dot encourage reflection and suggest meanings beyond what is immediately visible. There is a spiritual quality within his work that reveals itself gradually, drawing the viewer into a deeper connection over time.
Philippe is also the father of artist Giovani Zanolino. Together, they represent two generations within Curaçao’s contemporary art scene, each with a distinct artistic voice while sharing a deep connection to creativity and expression.
